Something New Coming Your Way
Good morning. I hope you are safe and healthy and happy. We’ve been quite busy since the first of the year. We spent nearly two weeks with friends in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, a fabulous artisan’s nest in central Mexico. Immediately, upon returning home, we dove into a major remodeling project. New flooring, refaced cabinets, and new countertops. I hope it’s all done and dusted by the end of February. Cross your fingers.
In the mix, I continue to write and work on my favorite project, Camino Child, Book One of Summer Darling’s Travel Adventures.
This new YA novel is now in the hands of what the industry calls “Beta Readers.” (Think focus group.) A few of them have already provided great feedback. I’ll start Draft #4 in early March.
In the meantime, I’m writing short stories. They are very different from one another but on one theme: Tension: Short Stories on the American Landscape. Writing these has been very rewarding. I have dozens of story ideas, and can outline in a day or two, then write the first draft during a long morning with my tea.
Then the real work begins. After a few days, I go back to the story and self-edit my work.
My plan is to have these stories professionally edited and a cover designed before I post them for you to enjoy. They’ll also be available on Amazon. And someday I’ll publish a collection of your favorites.
So, keep an eye out for the first of these short reads in the weeks to come. New ones will be posted every few weeks after that.

While sketching out the backstory and family history for Camino Child and our lead character, Summer Darling, I wrote a novella about her grandmother when she was a young woman backpacking through Europe in the 1980s with her older sister.
